Nancy's Buddy

Nancy found a new friend.

Sled Dogs of Denali

We visited the dog kennel in Denali
and saw a dog team demonstration.

We got to pet and visit with many of the dogs
which gave a dog fix to those of us missing their own dogs.
The dogs are used during the winter to deliver supplies and patrol the park.

Caribou of Denali

We saw quite a few caribou on the tour.

Some were on the very top of ridges, enjoying the breeze that kept insects away.

This pair were staying cool on a patch of snow.
High temperature was about 65 F.

Dall Sheep of Denali

We also saw white dots on the mountainsides which were dall sheep.

One outcropping near the road had a flock of sheep.
These two had been sparring.

This one is still shedding its winter coat.

This large ram was resting just over the bluff.
Reminds me of the Ram Trucks!

Tundra Wilderness Tour

We are in Denali National Park and took the Tundra Wilderness Tour
We were fortunate to see the great mountain, Denali
before clouds rolled in.

Lots of wildlife sightings, such as this golden eagle.

Who was kind enough to perch on a rock for his photo.

We also enjoyed the antics of the artic ground squirrel.
More postings on wildlife to follow.

Midnight Sun Express

We took the train to Denali National Park.

4 Days of Storms

We've had hot muggy days followed by evening storms lately.

The trails are muddy and full of puddles.

This guy loves the weather.

Spiderwort is blooming.
This one has its own little grasshopper.

Damsels & Danger

Damsel flies are hovering everywhere.
Like this black one with spots on its wings.

And iridescent blue ones.

And brilliant green ones.

Hope they stay away from this trap.

Didn't see much......

because of this.
We're watching my daughter's dogs while they vacation.

This mushroom managed to escape trampling.

And I saw this feather.
That was it, beside wagging tails.

Wet Wild Things

Its been so rainy lately that the only creatures I've seen are wet ones.
This turtle for instance.

And another sighting of the momma wood duck.
Her ducklings are in front of her near the weeds.

And a big ole carp.
