I'm blogging about my home, a Midwest farm in Indiana and my travels, hiking & horseback riding, wherever that may take me. Visit often to get your outdoor "fix"! Whether it be from the back of a horse, in hiking boots, or in muck boots, I promise to share a little of Mother Nature with you as often as I can! All pictures can be enlarged by clicking on them.

Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore & State Park
After our stay at Potato Creek,
we continued on to the Indiana Dunes.
It is unique in that it allows dogs on the beach in certain areas.
Bo discovered Lake Michigan & waves!
This is the Devil's Slide, one of the many dunes you can climb.
Or, if you're not up to a dune climb,
you can walk to the beach on a boardwalk.
If you are lucky, you can see the Chicago skyline from the beach
Sunsets are beautiful

Camping at Potato Creek State Park
We visited Potato Creek State Park last weekend.
Lots of family time with our daughter & her family.
Biking with Grandparents
Challenging yourself at the playground
Hanging with grandpa
Visiting the lake
And the main reason we were here,
mom & dad ran the triathlon!

Attending the Trail Clinic
Janette & I attended a trail clinic where our horses learned to navigate various obstacles.
Walking & sidepassing over logs
Asking your horse to walk through a kiddie pool filled with empty water bottles
Opening & closing gates
Ponying, or leading, a second horse while mounted
The cowboy curtain and many other scary things
After a morning in the arena, we went out on a trail ride.
Temperatures were in the 90's, but we learned a lot and came home happy tired cowgirls
