I'm blogging about my home, a Midwest farm in Indiana and my travels, hiking & horseback riding, wherever that may take me. Visit often to get your outdoor "fix"! Whether it be from the back of a horse, in hiking boots, or in muck boots, I promise to share a little of Mother Nature with you as often as I can! All pictures can be enlarged by clicking on them.

Park Number 45 - Kings Canyon
Also in the Sierra Nevada mountain range but south of Yosemite,
is Kings Canyon.
The General Grant tree is there,
the second largest tree in the world, by volume.
The park also features Kings Canyon,
a beautiful drive down the mountains to the Kings River.
The drive is very scenic and bucolic.
This is Grizzly Falls
We stayed at the Cedar Grove Lodge along the Kings River
and enjoyed nature.
It was a magical place!

Revisiting Park #4
We've been to Yosemite National Park in the past, but it is worth revisiting.
We stay at the Majestic Yosemite Lodge in the heart of the park.
There were wildfires burning and parts of the park were in accessible.
The first morning we were there, we had lots of ash on our car.
We hiked up to the footbridge below Vernal Falls but its hard to see the falls in the smoke.
Can you see them between the tree lines?
The second day we were there we drove to Tenaya Lake
Olmsted Point
Tuolumne Meadows
And Tioga Pass which were all closed due to snow on our previous visit.
There was still snow in the upper mountains, but the road was open.
We also visited the Toulumme Meadows Lodge and were surprised to discover it was a tent!
Had a great lunch at the Whoa Nellie Deli in the Mobil station in Lee Vining
and returned to our room at Yosemite Valley.
