I'm blogging about my home, a Midwest farm in Indiana and my travels, hiking & horseback riding, wherever that may take me. Visit often to get your outdoor "fix"! Whether it be from the back of a horse, in hiking boots, or in muck boots, I promise to share a little of Mother Nature with you as often as I can! All pictures can be enlarged by clicking on them.

Strawberry Fields Forever
Today, my oldest grandchild & I went strawberry picking.
Lots of other people had the same idea!
But there were plenty of juicy ridpe berries for everyone.
This was first for my dear granddaughter.
But she said it was the favorite part of her day.
Looks like strawberry shortcake tonight!

The Beginnings of a Hornets' Nest
I noticed this odd gray bulb near the trail.
After examining it, I decided it was the beginning stage of a hornets' nest.
Probably blown down in a spring storm.
Time to rebuild.

Floating along
My daughter & I took another kayak trip today.
The temps were just right & we saw lots of critters.
This trip, we paddled on Morse Reservoir
We went under several bridges including this railroad bridge.
Almost every bridge had swallows nesting under them.
We encountered wood ducks, mallards, Canadian geese and even saw 2 osprey.
Found a big water snake sunning on a log.
And we saw something we'd never seen before - a swimming squirrel!
