I'm blogging about my home, a Midwest farm in Indiana and my travels, hiking & horseback riding, wherever that may take me. Visit often to get your outdoor "fix"! Whether it be from the back of a horse, in hiking boots, or in muck boots, I promise to share a little of Mother Nature with you as often as I can! All pictures can be enlarged by clicking on them.

Winter Storm
A winter storm is predicted.
Snow should accumulate up to 12 inches
with wind chills in the -40's.
Brrrr!
But for now, the temp is pleasant and snow is falling,
so we took a walk in the woods.

Long Winter Nights
What to do on a long winter night?
Why, face painting, of course.
Granddaughter Liddy paints grandma.
She nailed it!
Thanks to Aunt Jamie for providing the fun!

Ice Follies
Winter is ebbing and flowing.
The creek was frozen, then we got a warm spell with 3 inches of rain,
causing flooding and then a cold snap.
The freeze-up begins again.
As the water falls, icicles form along the creek bank.
Rocks, once again, become emtombed.
An ice pendulum hangs from a branch.
Nature's wind chimes hang over the creek.
Frosty curlicues.

Winter Ride
Our 6 inches of snow is melting,
so we decided to ride again, before it melted away.
Ready to ride
Looking down over the creek
We spotted Thumper
And Bambi
And a deteriorating hornets' nest
It was a fine day for a ride in the snow.
