Nestboxes

Fall is time to clean out the nestboxes.

The bluebird houses need the old nesting materials removed.
It helps prevent parasite infestation of the nestlings.

This box is close to the house and didn't have much activity.

But when I checked it,
it had these abandoned eggs inside along with some bluebird feathers.

The are probably house wren eggs,
since bluebird eggs are blue.

Who knows why the eggs never hatched,
but we have a healthy bluebird  & wren population.
