We are taking a trip and the first stop is Gettysburg.
Gettysburg is a National Military Park
and my first thought was that we'd see a battlefield with a plaque.
How surprising to learn that the battle of Gettysburg took place over the span of three days
and encompassed the entire town.
There are monuments lining every road leading into Gettysburg,
as well as many scattered about town.
There is a large cemetery there where thousands of soldiers are buried,
many unidentified.
There are 439 monuments scattered around Gettysburg.
Its a solemn place in history.
