Drought of 2012

2012 is shaping up to be a wild weather year.
We had a very mild winter, with little snow, and the creek never froze.
Then Spring arrived way ahead of schedule with record warm temps.
Now summer is breaking all kinds of records,
such as the longest dry spell, 46 days, in over 100 years.
And we've tied or broken 8 records for highest temperature &
are on the way to breaking another record,
most days with highs of 90 degrees or higher.
 Whew, its HOT!

Our creek is just a series of shallow pools.

The reservoir near our house is down 6 feet.
Exposed stumps are sticking up everywhere.

Hungry herons

It hard to believe just a few short months ago
I was kayaking in this bay
