What's in an Owl Pellet?

What is this?
It's not what you think.

Its an owl pellet.
Owls eat their food whole and cannot digest some parts of their prey,
such as hair, bone & feathers.  Those parts are then regurgitated as a pellet.

My (future naturalist) granddaughter  & I dissected it to see what was inside.

Inside the matted fur were bones & teeth.

We concluded from the size of these vertebrae,
the rodent-like teeth and the color & texture of the fur that the unlucky victim was a squirrel.
