Ever get that feeling that someone is watching you?
I'm blogging about my home, a Midwest farm in Indiana and my travels, hiking & horseback riding, wherever that may take me. Visit often to get your outdoor "fix"! Whether it be from the back of a horse, in hiking boots, or in muck boots, I promise to share a little of Mother Nature with you as often as I can! All pictures can be enlarged by clicking on them.

Up a Tree
This raccoon stayed too late at the bird feeder and was chased up a tree by the dogs.
He spent several hours up there until he finally felt confident to leave.

Up a Tree
I'm dogsitting my granddogs this week.
Not seeing much wildlife with 3 dogs on my morning hike,
however they did scare this guy up a tree.

Raccoon Plague
I've been seeing dead raccoons quite often this summer.
They show no signs of trauma and are deep in the woods away from traffic.
I believe they are infected with distemper.
Distemper runs in cycles of about 5 - 7 years but usually enough raccoons survive to repopulate an area.
This guy was out waddling through the woods in broad daylight.
Hope he escapes the disease.

Wildlife Photographed at the Ranch
Of course, we have the bird feeder raiders, the fox squirrel.
And the lovely Opossum. This one has a bloody foot.
