Share the Trail

This little guy was hopping across the trail as I hiked.

There are lots of little toads out there so remember to share the trail.

Clyde

This is Clyde.

He has been residing in the barn all summer.

Sometimes he's behind the water trough.

Sometimes he's hanging out on a spare flake of hay.

Sooner or later, he'll have to dig underground and hibernate for the winter.

Until then, he keeps seems to like attention....

Its been a wet summer

Lots of rain

Humid days

Perfect for fungi & toads.

Rain, rain, go away!

It has rained for days.
Even this toad was tucked up under the porch roof to escape the deluge.

Good weather for tadpoles though!

The moisture in the air and cool nights give way to foggy mornings.

Steady rain all day today.
I walked in the rain and found this fat toad sharing the trail.

Other not-so-cuddly critters found around the ranch

We have some not so cute and fuzzy critters too.
Baby toads are everywhere in the spring.We have tiny snakes

And big snakes!

Big ole snapper turtles

And nice easy-goin' box turtles

Even some interesting insects such as this stickbug
