I'm blogging about my home, a Midwest farm in Indiana and my travels, hiking & horseback riding, wherever that may take me. Visit often to get your outdoor "fix"! Whether it be from the back of a horse, in hiking boots, or in muck boots, I promise to share a little of Mother Nature with you as often as I can! All pictures can be enlarged by clicking on them.

All Good Things Must End
Our vacation is winding down.
We enjoyed it all,
The Ocean breezes
The resident wildlife, both wild
and not so wild.
(Our early morning alarm & balcony beggar)
The street performers at Mallory Square, both feline
And human.
We found treasure on the beach
Sampled tasty seafood
And acted like silly tourists
But now its time to sail away home!
So long Key West!

Sea Kayaking
One of the highlights of our visit to Key West was kayaking the Boca Chica Channel
which flowed to the sea.
We left Stock Island and paddled among the tangled branches of the mangroves.
Our guide netted all kinds of sea creatures, like this horse conch.
A skinny sea star
A fat sea star
A slug-like sea hare that was sticky to hold.
And jelly fish.
There were some interesting sights above the water too,
like this raft of comorants.
It was a fun day on the water.

Butterflies!
Our hotel is near the Key West Butterfly & Nature Conservatory.
I had to visit this beautiful place.
Butterflies are fluttering everywhere!
Every color and pattern are represented.
And there are pretty birds too!
The birds are from all over the world.
There is a flowing stream meandering through the exhibit which attracted lots of birds.
And baby quail shared the walkway with us.
A pretty masked blue bird
Purple & rusty brown finch
Beautiful!
