This place is the Garden of the Gods in Shawnee National Forest in Illinois. Beautiful isn't it?
I just read the book "The Last Season" about the ranger quoted. He disappeared while working in Sequoia-Kings Canyon Natl Park after working 28 seasons in the backcountry.
