Hoosier Outdoor Experience

sponsored an event designed to introduce the public to outdoor activities.
There were many activities that you could try your hand at, such as mountain biking, horseback riding, archery, fishing, ATV off road riding, gold panning, archaeology, shooting sports & many more.
All activities were free.

Here a young girl admires a  taxidermist's coyote and various pelts
at the trapping tent.

Here's a captured warbler that was being banded at the bird ID booth.

Many people enjoyed the lake on kayaks and canoes.

And you are never too old to learn a new skill.
This lady is learning to fly fish.

All forms of camping were represented from backpacking to tents to the big RV's.
Even a few antique trailer were displayed.

One of my favorite activities was represented, horse camping & packing.

 l
The kids were encouraged to ride the mini bikes and families were taken on off road tracks in UTV's.

I haven't been on a bike in years, but I had to try the mountain bike.
I survived the mile long trail and had fun,
which was the purpose of the event - to  get people outside and enjoying nature.
Next Saturday, Sept. 25th is National Public Lands Day.
You can find out more at
http://www.publiclandsday.org
Why don't you get outside?
